CALVIN WILLIAMS IV, UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a sophomore guard from Spring, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played Monday, January 30th through Sunday, February 5th. SCAC Men's Basketball Release (Week 13)
WILLIAMS led the Celts to a perfect weekend on the road in SCAC play, topping Austin College, 70-61, on Friday night and then knocking off Dallas, 65-62, on Saturday. He averaged an astonishing 26.5 points per game, highlighted by 27 points in the win over the Crusaders, setting a new career-high in points. Williams shot 59.5 percent from the field on the week, connecting on 22-of-37 from the field. He also averaged 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.5 assists per game on the week. The Celts, now a perfect 14-0 in SCAC play and 21-2 overall, have clinched their second-straight SCAC regular season crown.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior forward Seth Thomas of Centenary led the Gents in their undefeated weekend against Dallas and Austin College, averaging 19.0 points per game. Thomas scored 38 points over two games and added 6.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 0.5 blocks and 2.0 steals per game. Junior guard Tanner Brown of Trinity averaged 19.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.0 steals last weekend. Brown led the Tigers in their win against Schreiner with a season-high of 24 points. Junior forward Trey Crawford of Colorado College averaged 13.0 points, 3.0 assists, 11.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game last week in the win against the Mountaineers. Crawford led the Tigers to their first win over Trinity since 2020. Junior forward Marcus Juarez of Dallas averaged 19.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists. 0.5 steals and 0.5 blocks over the weekend. Juarez was a spark on offense but could not get the Crusaders over the hump. They dropped both contests despite Juarez setting a career-high of 22 points and a game-high of 6 threes.
