LANDON MURRAY OF ST. THOMAS, a junior pitcher from Houston, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, February 20 through Sunday, February 26. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 3
Murray was stout on the mound in the Celts 3-0 victory over Belhaven last weekend. He allowed just three hits and struck out seven batters in eight innings of work. He allowed one walk and posted a 0.00 ERA for the week. It was Murray’s ninth career victory, which continues to lead St. Thomas all-time.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior right-handed pitcher Joseph Chavana of Trinity managed four strikeouts last weekend in helping to lift the Tigers over Babson. Chavana walked one batter and allowed only one run on three hits over seven-plus innings. Sophomore pitcher Gregory Ferguson of Southwestern tossed seven innings, allowing two runs and managing seven strikeouts. Ferguson gave up just one walk over the 29 batters he faced. Sophomore right-handed pitcher Luke Rogers of Schreiner picked up the win over Dallas Christian last weekend, tossing 6.2 innings, allowing three hits while striking our nine.
