Williams led a Celt team that started SCAC play 2-0 by defeating 6-1 Schreiner and Trinity, who was receiving votes in the last D3hoops.com Top 25 rankings. Williams stuffed the stat sheet all weekend, averaging 16.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals, 3.0 assists and 1.5 blocks per game in the two victories. He shot 56.0 from the field (14-for-25), including 50.0 percent (3-for-6) from beyond the arc. His weekend was highlighted with a double-double (18 points; 10 rebounds) against Trinity. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior guard Tykeem Singleton of Centenary had a big weekend for the Gents as he led them to a pair of home wins on opening weekend in conference play, 69-65 over Trinity on Friday night and 84-79 over Schreiner on Sunday afternoon. Singleton scored a team-high 20 points in Sunday's win over the Mountaineers, finishing 8-for-11 from the floor and 4-of-6 from beyond the arc in 31 minutes. He grabbed four rebounds and added a blocked shot and a steal. In Friday's win, Singleton recorded his first double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds in 38 minutes of action. He nailed a pair of treys with two steals and a blocked shot. Junior guard Xavier Phillips of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs to a 2-0 weekend behind his 17.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game average, which included a 20-point scoring performance against Dallas on Friday, his third 20+ point effort of the season. He shot 58.3 percent (14-for-24) for the week, including 41.7 percent (5-of-12) from beyond the arc. Sophomore guard Jackson Rennie of Austin College had a big weekend as the 'Roos went 1-1 to open conference play, averaging 20.5 points per game while shooting 44.8% from the field and 43.5% from beyond the arc. Rennie knocked down four threes in a win over Southwestern, and followed that up with six more triples against Texas Lutheran. Junior guard Tanner Brown of Trinity posted back-to-back 20-point games in last weekend's conference road trip for the Tigers, his first two of the 2022-23 season and the seventh and eighth of his career. The first, Friday night at Centenary, came with a season-high 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the year while Sunday featured a 16-point second half to lead a late rally. Junior guard Sam Lacy of Southwestern secured a double-double to help the Pirates in their first conference win against Dallas. Lacy's game-high ten rebounds ensured valuable possessions for the Pirates in the four-point victory and he accounted for thirty-five percent of the Pirate's points with his six assists and ten points. Junior forward Jack Boyle of Dallas, in 65 minuntes across two games, averaged 23.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while also recording six steals and four blocks. His 29 points against TLU on Friday was a career-high, and he is currently averaging a double-double through seven games this season.
