IRVING, Texas - Second-seeded University of St. Thomas earned the program's first-ever win in the SCAC Softball Championship with a 4-2 elimination game victory over fifth-seeded Southwestern University on Saturday afternoon.First baseman Addison Lehew drove in three of four runs for the Celts, including a two-run double. HOW IT HAPPENED
- Southwestern quickly jumped out front in the top of the first after a two-out solo homerun from Maddie Mefford.
- St. Thomas responded with a solo homer of its own when Jaelyn Simmons tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom half of the first.
- The game remained tied until the bottom of the third when Lehew delivered a bases-loaded sacrifice fly that plated that Simmons and gave the Celts a 2-1 lead.
- In the bottom of the fifth, St. Thomas extended its lead to 4-1 with a Lehew's two-run double. Southwestern cut the lead in half at 4-2 in the top of the sixth after Alex Fletes drew a bases-loaded walk that scored Jessey Nunez.
