The 13th-ranked Tigers, as the top seed, had a bye and Saturday's match against St. Thomas was their first of the tournament. Trinity picked up all three doubles points, although the match at the No. 1 line was tightly contested with Cate Cushing and Megan Flores pulling out the 8-7 (7-4) victory over Anamaria Gonzalez and Alejandra Lopez to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead heading into singles.

Following a short rain delay, Trinity earned a couple of quick singles wins as Ruth Hill earned a 6-1, 6-1 win over Alyssa Davila at No. 3, and Megan Flores clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Jenny Reynolds at the No. 4 line.

Trinity (13-8) advances to face Southwestern in tomorrow's 9 a.m. championship match at the Cree Family Tennis Center on the campus of Schreiner. This marks the sixth consecutive year the tournament has been contested (and seventh overall) the two have met in the championship match with Trinity holding a 4-1 edge over that stretch. Southwestern, however, has the most recent bragging rights having broken through for the program's first-ever conference title at last year's championship.

Also scheduled for tomorrow, St. Thomas (6-9) will take on Colorado College in the third-place match. That match will be played at the H-E-B Municipal Tennis Center and is scheduled for 9 a.m.
