Mackey was outstanding leading Schreiner to a perfect 2-0 record on a road trip to Oregon, defeating Pacific (85-83) and George Fox (94-87) to extend the Mountaineers win streak to five and secure a 7-1 start through eight contests. In the win over Pacific, Mackey also put together a triple double with 22 points, a career-high 14 rebounds and nine assists. He scored four of the Mountaineers’ final five points, including the game-tying bucket and a pair of free throws to put his team ahead to secure the win. Mackey then followed that performance up with his second double-double of the trip with 22 points and 12 rebounds to go along with four assists, one steal and one block in the win over George Fox. His back-to-back 20-plus point efforts marks the second time this season and just the third time in his career he has posted back-to-back 20-plus point games. On the week, Mackey averaged 22.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.5 blocks per game.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior guard Craig Collier of Centenary led all scorers with 20 points in the Gents’ 72-57 victory at home over Millsaps on Friday as he was 5-15 from the floor and a perfect 8-8 at the FT line in 37 minutes. Collier hit a pair of treys and added a pair of assists and two rebounds as he scored in double figures for the fifth time this season and has scored 20 or more points an impressive four times. Senior guard Scott Ruegg of Colorado College tied his career-high six three-pointers in the SCAC opener against St. Thomas over the weekend. Ruegg led the Tigers with 21 points (6-7 from three-point range) and shot 87.5 percent (7-8) from the floor. He finished the game with two rebounds and six assists. Senior forward Andrew Adebo of St. Thomas put together a standout performance in helping the Celts open the SCAC portion of its schedule with an impressive 18-point win over Colorado College at home last Saturday. Adebo poured in 24 points on an impressive 10-for-12 shooting (83.3 %), grabbed five rebounds, dished out one assists and registered a steal in the win.
