JACK BOYLE OF UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a senior center from Silver Spring, Md., has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, November 25 through Sunday, December 1. SCAC Men's Basketball Release (Week 4)
Boyle continued to stuff that stat sheet, leading the Crusaders to a Thanksgiving Holiday split in non-conference action, defeating Arlington Baptist and falling to Howard Payne. The senior averaged a remarkable 26.0 points, behind 60.0 percent shooting and 20.5 rebounds per game, highlighted by a 34-point, 16 rebound performance in the win over Arlington Baptist. In addition to his scoring and rebounding, Boyle also averaged 4.5 assists and 3.0 blocks per game. His back to back double double performances were his third and fourth of the season, trailing only Schreiner’s Kamden Ross, who has five, for the most in the SCAC.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior forward Asher Nofziger of Colorado College had a career weekend as the Tigers competed in the Rhodes All-Academic Invitational. The Denver native recorded a career-high 32 points and 16 rebounds against UChicago on Sunday. Nofziger shot 12-27 from the floor, including 2-3 from three-point range and also racked up a steal and a block. It was the most well-rounded and dominant performance of his career. He finished the weekend averaging 22.5 points, 11 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and one assist per game. He also almost lead CC back from a double-digit deficit against No.2 WashU on Saturday. Senior guard Kino Thompson of McMurry was outstanding in leading the War Hawks to a road win over LeTourneau last week during the Thanksgiving Holiday. Thompson poured in 18 points on an electric 77.8 percent shooting (7-for-9) and grabbed six rebounds, dished out one assists and was credited with one block. Senior forward Brock Luechtefeld of Southwestern averaged 11.5 points on 68.8 percent shooting (11-for-16) and seven rebounds per game in a pair or contests on the west coast last weekend for the Pirates. Sophomore guard Christian Green of Trinity led the ninth-ranked Tiger men's basketball team to a split in California over the weekend, defeating Pomona-Pitzer Colleges before falling to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges. Green averaged 20.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.5 steals per game for the weekend, shooting 57.6% (19-for-33) from the field. He just missed a double-double in both games, picking up 16 points and nine rebounds to go with five assists and three steals against Pomona, and then finishing with 24 points and nine boards against Claremont.
