ALEXIS BODUNRIN OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a sophomore outside hitter on the women's volleyball team from Tomball, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning November 25.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

Alexis, a key player on the UST volleyball team, is also dedicated to leadership and making an impact beyond athletics. Through her involvement in the Mendenhall program, a summer initiative for incoming freshmen, Alexis found a way to adjust to college life, meet new people, and explore campus. "It made the transition from high school to college much easier," she shared.

Building on this experience, Alexis became a Freshman Symposium Mentor, helping freshmen navigate UST and connect with resources. “I wanted to give back and help others find success,” she explained.

In addition to mentoring, Alexis serves as Chair Pro-Tempore on the Student Government executive council and works as a Student-Athlete Intern for Campus Ministry. These roles show her commitment to leadership and the UST community.

Her passion for leadership grew through her "Emotionally Intelligent Leadership" course in Freshman Symposium, where she learned the importance of understanding and connecting with others. “It taught me how to lead in a meaningful way,” Alexis said.

Alexis’s involvement in both athletics and leadership makes her a role model for her peers at UST.
