EMMA LUNA OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a freshman from League City, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Wednesday, Septembere 22 through Tuesday, September 28. SCAC Golf Release (Week 2)
Luna finished second among individuals to lead the Celts to the team title at the Schreiner/Queen of the Hill Country tournament which was contested at The Buckhorn in Comfort, Texas. Playing in her first collegiate event, Luna shot a pair of 75s to finish at 150 (+8), four shots behind medalist Ceci Romero of Our Lady of the Lake.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Shelby Vetere of Schreiner paced the Mountaineers with rounds of 87 and 82 (169, +27) to finish tied for 18th at the Queen of the Hill Country tournament. Her final round 82 moved her two slots up the leaderboard in the 25-player field. Senior Madison Goldberg of Southwestern fired an opening round 80 (+8), as did teammate Linsey Garza, to lead the Pirates at the prestigious DIII National Preview in Houston, Texas. Tuesday's final round was cancelled due to inclement weather in the area.
