LINDSEY LONGUET OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a senior pitcher from Missouri City, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, March 15 through Sunday, March 21.
Longuet was outstanding in the circle last weekend for the Celts, going 2-0 in the circle with two complete games in her two appearances to help lift St. Thomas to a three-game conference sweep over Centenary. In the opener, she went 10 innings, allowing just one earned run and striking out eight. Longuet then helped close out the series with a win, allowing just one hit in seven innings of work and striking out five. In 17 total innings of work, Longuet struck out 13, allowed just two earned runs and scattered just four hits with a 0.82 ERA.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior pitcher Emily Martin of Dallas went 1-0 in three appearances against Austin College to help lift the Crusaders to their first conference series win since 2018. In 14.2 innings of work, Martin posted a 3.34 ERA, striking out 11 and scattering 17 hits. In Dallas’ 4-3 win on Sunday to secure the series win, Martin pitched a complete game with five strikeouts. Freshman pitcher Sydney Ouellette of Texas Lutheran tossed a three-hit shutout in the Bulldogs’ 8-0 victory over NAIA school University of Houston-Victoria. In five innings, Ouellette struck out one and walked one in collecting the pitching win.
