LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Conference play continued this week with a top 25 match-up serving as the marquis contest of the weekend.
Top-ranked Trinity University and 19th-ranked Colorado College played its second contest of the season and the Texas Tigers came out on top in a hard-fought, 2-1, win in Colorado.
Following a scoreless first half, Colorado College got on the board with a goal in the 65th minute of play, on a shot from 20 yards out that deflected off of a Trinity defender before finding the net.
Laurence Wyke evened the battle between ranked teams with a header in the 81st minute, on an assist from Ryan Hunter.
Six minutes later, first-year Donnovan Smith put Trinity ahead, on an assist by Kellen Reid. Smith fired a loose ball past the keeper from eight yards out, after Colorado missed on a chance to clear the ball from the box.
The Austin College men picked up two conference wins with victories over Texas Lutheran (1-0 in 2OT on Friday) and Southwestern (2-1 on Sunday) to move into fourth-place.
