LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Four of the league's five women's golf teams were back in action this week.
Three of those teams played at the University of Texas-Tyler Al Jones Memorial with Southwestern University posting the best finish among participating SCAC schools with a third place finish in the 11-team field.
The Pirates fired a two-day total of 653 (+77), finishing 18 shots behind host University of Texas-Tyler and two shots behind Concordia (Texas).
Centenary College finished seventh with a team score of 685 (+109) and Texas Lutheran University was ninth with a score of 731 (+155).
Individually, sophomore Jessica Varner of Centenary earned medalist honors with a tournament-best two-day total of 151 (+7) - two shots clear of Morgan Loth of UT-Tyler (153). Southwestern freshman Leilani McDaniel fired a 156 (+12) to finish third in her first collegiate tournament.
Freshman Smmer Swift paced the Bulldogs with a two-day total of 172 (+28) to finish tied for 31st.
Meanwhile, the Trinity University women shot a final-round 320 on Monday and posted a two-day total of 634 to finish in fourth place at the prestigious MCC Women's Intercollegiate at the Montgomery (Ala.) Country Club.
Defending NCAA Division III champion Rhodes (Tenn.) College won the tournament (603), host Huntingdon College was second (620), and Berry (Ga.) College placed third (624). Trinity finished ahead of eight teams in the 12-squad tournament field.
Junior Taylor Moser shot a final 1-over-par 74 to finish in a two-way tie for second place. Moser finished at 5-over 151, rising from Monday's fourth-place position.
