LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Southwestern clinched the 2016 SCAC football title outright with a 20-7 victory over Trinity on Saturday at Birkelbach Field.
Matt Gillen caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from Bryan Hicks in the opening quarter, while Luke Fierst connected on a pair of field goals in the second.
Tyler Frisby then intercepted a pass an returned it 47 yards to the end zone in the third quarter, giving the Bucs a 20-0 advantage.
The Tigers (4-5, 2-3 SCAC) scored their lone points on Davis King's four-yard touchdown pass to Jon Sorery with 3:24 left in the contest.
In other SCAC action, Austin College freshman quarterback Colt Collins threw for 200 yards and rushed for 98 more, totaling four touchdowns in his first career start, as the 'Roos held off Texas Lutheran for a 30-28 victory on Saturday afternoon in Seguin.
