Three SCAC Players Named to Team of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball players earned Team of the Week honors after the first two weeks of action.

Centenary College starting pitcher Kaleb Kirk and outfielder Michael Schimpf were both recognized, along with Southwestern University catcher, Colby Schmidt.

Schmidt, a sophomore from Liberty Hill, Texas, led Southwestern to a 2-1 record at the Firehouse Classic last weekend. Over the three game stretch, Schmidt hit .615 (8-for-13) with three doubles and seven RBIs. Schmidt also totaled 11 bases, which translated to an .846 slugging percentage. He also reached base at a .643 clip over the weekend. Schmidt provided the walk-off single in Southwestern's come-from-behind 13-12 win over Oglethorpe on Friday.
