LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Six of the league's eight teams were in non-conference action over the week, including #4 Southwestern University and #8 Colorado College.
En route to a 4-0 week, Colorado College defeated #12 Eastern (Pa.) University, 3-2, and #23 Millikin (Ill.) University, 3-2 at its own Pike Peaks Challange. Freshman setter Lizzy Counts was named the tournament Most Valuable Player as she recorded her 12th double-double of the season with a team-high 39 assists and 11 digs, while picking up six kills and four blocks in the 3-2 victory over Millikin. She finished the tourney with 37 assists, six kills and six digs in a 3-0 sweep of Concordia.
Southwestern posted a 3-0 week, including victories against #14 University of Mary Washington (Va.), 3-1, and #18 Christopher Newport (Va.) University, 3-2.
Texas Lutheran also played a couple of matches against top-25 competition, but dropped both to Hendrix College on back-to-back days. The Bulldogs did manage to pick up a set against the 25th-ranked Warriors in a 3-1 loss on Saturday.
With all teams heading to Kerrville and the campus of Schreiner University for the final cross divisional of the season, Southwestern, Trinity and Colorado College are the only teams that have locked up berths in the 2016 SCAC Volleyball Tournament, which is scheduled for November 4-5 at Centenary College. The top six teams qualify for the event.
