KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- After suffering their first loss of the season, Trinity University fell to No. 5 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll, while Colorado College moved up two spots after extending their winning streak to six games.
In the D3soccer.com poll, Trinity is now ranked sixth, while Colorado College moved up to No. 15. In the NSCAA's regional rankings, Trinity remains No. 1 among the western teams and Colorado held onto the third spot.
Trinity (16-1, 12-1 SCAC) defeated Southwestern University on Friday night, before falling to Texas Lutheran University on the road Sunday. The Tigers made a strong effort to come back from a very early 2-0 deficit, but the Bulldogs scored the eventual game-winner, and withstood a strong Trinity attack over the final minutes to pull out the upset.
Over the weekend, Colorado College (14-2-1, 11-2 SCAC) earned a pair of one-goal victories over Centenary College and Austin College. This continues a six game winning streak that dates back to October 7th, when CC faced Trinity at home.
Trinity clinched at least a share of the regular season title on Saturday, as well as securing the top seed for the tournament. Colorado College will be the second seed for the tournament, but still has a chance to earn Co-Regular Season Champion honors.
