LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) released the Scholar All-America teams for 2017, with more than 700 collegiate swimming and diving programs earning the honor, including five women’s and four men’s Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference teams.
In the program's first year of existence, University of the Ozarks posted the nation's top GPA for Division III men, 3.71, while the women were recognized with a 3.16 GPA. The men's mark is tied with fellow DIII member, Vassar College, for the highest GPA among all NCAA programs.
Colorado College had both teams earn the honor for the seventh time in a row. The women posted a GPA of 3.62, which led all of the SCAC women's teams, while the CC men hold a 3.52 GPA, second among the conference for the men.
Austin College's women also earned the honor, holding a team GPA of 3.38, which ranked second in the league.
Southwestern University’s swimming & diving program ranked third among the league on both sides, with the women posting a 3.33 GPA and the men earning a 3.21.
Trinity University also had both teams recognized. The women's program earned a 3.28 GPA and the men finished with a 3.06.
To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the spring semester.
Founded in 1922, the CSCAA is the nation's oldest professional organization of college coaches. Its mission is to serve and provide leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming and diving at the collegiate level.
