Tiger swimmers Jacob Hurrell-Zitelman and Lindsay Hagmann will represent Trinity, as will divers Sarah Kate Mrkonich and Mollie Patzke.
The first-year Hurrell-Zitelman earned a bid to the NCAA Men's 1,650-yard freestyle event. The Tiger newcomer was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer of the Meet, as Trinity came from behind to win its sixth consecutive SCAC Championship. The event was held at Lewisville, Texas.
Hagmann will compete in the NCAA Women's Championships for the third straight year, swimming the 100-yard freestyle. Last year, the Tiger junior earned All-America honors in her signature event, with a seventh-place finish. Hagmann was tabbed as the SCAC Swimmer of the Meet for the second straight time, and was a major contributor to Trinity's 14th consecutive SCAC Championship.
Mrkonich and Patzke earned slots in the nationals with excellent finishes at the NCAA Region 2 Championships at Grinnell, Iowa. Mrkonich, a junior, placed second in the 3-meter event, and was third on the 1-meter board. Patzke, a senior, finished third on the high board, and was fifth on the low board.
Earlier, Mrkonich was chosen as the SCAC Women's Diver of the Meet for the third straight occasion.
John Ryan is the Tigers head swimming coach, and Stan Randall heads the diving program. Scott Trompeter and Kim Jones are the assistant swimming coaches.
In 2016, Mrkonich earned All-America accolades on the high board, with a seventh-place performance at the NCAA Championships. She also was an Honorable Mention All-America on the 1-meter board.
