LEXINGTON, Ky. -- After the final weekend of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action, there was a little motion in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) rankings for Southwestern University and Trinity University.
Southwestern fell one spot in the poll to No. 5 after falling just short of a comeback win over Colorado College. CC remained at No. 6 in the ranking. Trinity jumped two spots to No. 16 after going 4-0 at the cross-divisional, including a 3-2 win over Colorado College.
Trinity (22-6, 13-1 SCAC) clinched the league's regular season title this weekend with their wins, and will be the top seed at the tournament November 4-5. Despite the loss, Southwestern held onto the second spot in the standings, posting a record of 12-2 in SCAC play, and 27-2 overall.
Colorado College went 3-1 at the event, to finish league action at 11-3. The Tigers are 24-4 this season.
All three teams will face non-conference opponents this weekend before traveling to Shreveport for the SCAC Volleyball Championship.
