Trinity Women's Soccer Ranked No.7 in NSCAA Preseason Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released the 2016 preseason rankings Tuesday, and the Trinity University women were tabbed seventh in the nation.

The Tigers will enter this season under new leadership, as former Trinity standout Dylan Harrison takes the reigns. Harrison comes from Nicholls State University, a NCAA Division III institution.

The Tigers went 19-1-2 last season, with their only loss coming to Hardin-Simmons University in the second round of the NCAA tournament. The Tigers posted a draw against the University of Texas at Tyler in the first round, but advance after winning the penalty kick shootout 4-3. They fell to the Cowgirls 2-0.

In 2015, Trinity led the conference in almost every offensive category, posting 82 goals, while averaging 3.73 per game. They added 70 assists on the season for 234 total points. They also racked up 668 shots. Trinity’s offense ranked 10th in the nation in goals scoring offense.

On the defensive end, the Tigers allowed just six goals through 22 games, posting a goals against average of 0.265, which ranked fourth in the nation. The Trinity goalkeeping staff grabbed 39 saves.

Trinity will begin their season at home on September 1 as they face Our Lady of the Lake University. They follow that up on September 3 with a match against No. 8 Illinois Wesleyan. Trinity will begin conference action against the University of Dallas on Sunday, September 18.
