Three SCAC Football Student-Athletes Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District Recognition

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference football student-athletes were placed on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team this week.

Austin College's Cesar Ruiz, Texas Lutheran University's Tyler Howlett and Trinity University's Brad Hood all earned the honor.

Ruiz, a junior from Sachse, Texas is a place kicker on the 'Roos squad, and has posted a 3.87 grade point average in International Economics and Finance.

On the field, Ruiz is the 'Roos leading scorer with 42 points on the season. He has missed just two field goals this season, and only one point after attempt.

Howlett, a senior from Orange, Texas, holds a 3.80 GPA in accounting. The offensive linemen has been a part of the front line for TLU that has helped the Bulldogs offense average over 400 yards per game.

Hood, a senior from Lago Vista, Texas, boasts a 3.68 GPA in engineering science,  earning the honor for his second year in a row.

On the season, Hood has racked up 52 total tackles, 1.5 sacks for eight yards and three interceptions.
