LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Centenary College clinched the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season title with a sweep over the weekend, while the race for the final two tournament spots heated up.
Centenary College (29-6, 15-3 SCAC) swept the three-game series against Southwestern University (18-17, 7-8 SCAC) to clinch the outright regular season title Saturday. This is the Gents' second regular season championship in the last three seasons.
Trinity University (20-13, 9-6 SCAC) worked to get closer to a spot in the league tournament with a sweep of the University of Dallas (12-24, 3-12 SCAC) on the road over the weekend. The Tigers currently sit in third place in the conference standings.
Austin College climbed the standings to move into fifth place, just one win out of tournament contention with a 6-9 league record. The 'Roos won three straight against Schreiner University (11-24, 3-12 SCAC).
Heading into the final weekend of conference action, Trinity needs one win to secure their spot in the tournament, while Austin College and Southwestern will compete for the last bid.
