LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Southwestern took over sole possession of first place in the conference standings after its 42-38 victory against Texas Lutheran.
The Pirates (4-3, 3-0 SCAC) scored two touchdowns in each of the first three quarters and held on to hand the Bulldogs (2-5, 2-1 SCAC) their first-ever loss in SCAC play. Texas Lutheran had won 11 consecutive conference games since joining the league prior to the 2013 season.
In other SCAC action, Trinity (3-4, 1-2 SCAC) snapped a three-game losing streak to defeat Austin College, 38-27, in Sherman, Texas. The 'Roos dropped to 2-5 and 0-3 with the loss.
