SAN ANTONIO - Trinity University senior Liza Southwick has earned Division III Women's Singles All-America accolades from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

Southwick won a hard-fought, three-set first-round battle at the NCAA Division III Women's Singles Championship, held at Chattanooga, Tennessee, and made it to the round of 16.

She was ranked 27th nationally by the ITA and third in the West Region. Southwick amassed an overall record at 12-8 at #1 singles and was 11-6 against Division III opponents.

Southwick previously competed in the NCAA Doubles Championship with junior Marie Lutz. The Tiger duo garnered Doubles All-America honors in 2015 and 2016.

Trinity, led by third-year Head Coach Gretchen Rush, headed to Claremont, California, for its sixth consecutive berth in the NCAA Championship. The Tigers lost a 5-2 second-round skirmish to Pomona-Pitzer (CA) Colleges.

Prior to the NCAA Tournament, Trinity hosted and won the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship. The Tigers defeated Southwestern (TX) University 5-0 to win their sixth straight conference crowd and 21st overall. Coach Rush was elected the SCAC Women's Coach of the Year, and five Tiger players were elected to the All-SCAC Team, including Southwick.

The Tigers completed the campaign with a 17-8 record and a #16 national ranking.
