IRVING, Texas – Today the University of Dallas announced head coach Prentice Lewis submitted her resignation effective February 28. She has accepted a high school position. Dallas will begin seeking its next candidate for the head coaching position immediately.
Lewis became the 16th coach hired last April for the program. In her first season with the Crusaders, Lewis guided the squad to a 13-26 record and 5-9 mark in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) action. The Crusaders tied for 5th and earned the 5th seed of the conference tournament after holding the tiebreaker with Texas Lutheran University.
"I want to thank the University of Dallas and the athletic department for the opportunity and support given to me during my time here," Lewis stated. "I would also like to thank the program and the outstanding women involved. It is with a heavy heart that I leave the Crusaders and wish you all the best of luck as you continue to grow and develop as a team. Ultimately my family is the most important entity in my life, so I will be seeking a position that allows me to spend more tie with my family. Go Crusaders!"
While under Lewis, graduating senior Jessie Koster once again led NCAA Division III in digs-per-set (7.49) for the second straight year. Koster also boasted the most digs in the nation with 854. Both totals set single season school records for the program. The libero from Sherwood, Oregon, also broke career records in digs average (6.26) and digs (2,880). Her incredible performances earned UD's first ever American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and second consecutive United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) All-American. In the classroom, Koster excelled with a GPA above 3.8 to earn the 1st ever College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) DIII Academic All-District 8.
Her and fellow classmate Allison Seager were named to the USCAA National All-Academic Team. Mairin Guilfoyle finished her collegiate career with personal bests in several offensive categories. This included 358 kills and 3.31 kills-per-set to help boast top five in the SCAC and end up third in the all-time Dallas record books with 1,220.
