LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - All eight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball teams tipped off the 2016 season this past weekend.
Both of the SCAC's nationally-ranked teams, #9 Colorado College and #16 Southwestern University, finished weekend play with perfect 4-0 marks.
Senior outside hitter Abbe Holtze earned Most Valuable Player honors and led the Tigers to the Colorado College Classic tournament title. She slammed down eight kills and picked up 11 digs to lead the team in the back row in Sunday's 3-0 victory over Susquehanna University. Colorado College did not drop a set all weekend.
Senior setter Nikki Welch led Southwestern to a sweep at the University of Puget Sound Premiere as was named Tourament MVP for her efforts. The Pirates started the tournament with a big win 3-2 win over #8 Carthage College.
