LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released the Academic All-District teams for women’s soccer Thursday and five Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference student-athletes earned a spot on the list. (CoSIDA Release)
Trinity University led the way with four honorees while Texas Lutheran University had one selection.
Trinity had two defenders make the elite squad: Hannah Booher, a junior from Deer Park, Texas, and Jordan Leeper, a senior from Austin, Texas. Booher currently holds a 3.86 GPA in Biology while Leeper has a 3.75 GPA in Communications.
Booher, who picked up Defensive Player-of-the-Week honors in Week 4, and Leeper, who earned SCAC Defensive POTW acolades in Week 7, have both played integral roles in a Trinity defense that leads the conference in almost every category, including goals allowed (four), goals against average (0.25) and shutouts (12).
Leeper is also second in the league in assists with seven and has nine points overall while Booher has chipped in offensively with seven points (two goals and three assists).
A pair of high-scoring offensive threats from Trinity also earned a slot on the team. Senior midfieder Yasmeen Farra has scored a league-high 11 goals to go along with four assists. Her 26 total points are currently second-best in the conference and she has earned SCAC Offensive Player-of-the-Week honors the last two weeks. In the classroom, the Austin, Texas native has a 3.47 GPA in Engineering. Her teammate, junior forward Julia Camp, is currently second in the conference in both goals scored (10) and assists (seven) while her 27 points are tops in the SCAC. The fourth Tiger on the all-Academic squad and a SCAC Offensive POTW selection back in Week 4, the Houston native currently has a 3.76 GPA in English.
Senior defender Tara Armstrong of Texas Lutheran University also earned a spot on the team. The Lincoln, Calif., native currently sports a 3.91 GPA in Athletic Training. Armstrong was named the SCAC Defensive POTW in Week 6 and has been a major factor for a Bulldog defense that is currently third in the conference in goals allowed (14) and goals against average (0.94). She has also chipped on the offensive side with a goal and two assists.
The Academic All-District teams include student-athletes divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the sixth year of the expanded Academic All-America program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Booher, Leeper, Farra, Camp and Armstrong will all be eligible for Academic All-America consideration.
