LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - All seven of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball teams competed last week as conference play continued. Two teams clinched their spots in the SCAC Baseball Tournament later this month.
Centenary College (26-6, 12-3 SCAC) and Texas Lutheran University (20-12, 11-4 SCAC) faced off this weekend to battle for the top spot in the standings, and it was the Gents from Shreveport who took the series. Texas Lutheran came out strong, with pitcher Nathan Malinovsky posting a five hit shutout Friday night, but Centenary took both wins in a doubleheader Saturday. Both teams have earned their trips to the conference tournament.
Trinity University and Southwestern University each went 2-1 on the week, with the Tigers taking down Schreiner University and the Pirates earning the series win over the University of Dallas.
Southwestern clinched the series against the Crusaders with a complete-game, six hit shutout on Sunday by Colton Hunter.
