Schreiner Head Volleyball Coach Howard Wallace Announces Retirement

KERRVILLE, Texas -- Howard Wallace, head coach of Schreiner University Volleyball for the past five seasons, announced his plans to retire from the position in early June.

Wallace came to Schreiner after a successful run as an NCAA Division I head and assistant coach over a 30 year span. He worked at the University of Hawaii, Creighton and the University of Texas at San Antonio during that time.

During his career at Schreiner, Wallace has had seven all-conference performers and 40 academic all-conference recipients. His teams have earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Scholar award each of the past two years.

Schreiner Director of Athletics Ron Macosko on Wallace's retirement: "Howard has been a passionate leader of our program for five years. He's worked to mentor our students, not just in their volleyball careers, but in their pursuit of excellence in the complete college experience. His dedication to our student-athletes, evidenced by the great success of our players in the classroom, as well as his knowledge and passion for the sport he loves will be missed. We thank Howard for his service and wish he and wife Tommie great joy and fulfillment in their future activities."

A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
