LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Four Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's golf teams were in action this week, with four competing at the West Region Invitational in Georgetown, Texas.
Southwestern University, the host of the West Region Invitational, placed second among the field of eight teams finishing just 10 shots behind champion Mary Hardin-Baylor. The Pirates were led by Tyler Gammill, who finished first among the 46 golfers. Gammill finished with a 54-hole score of 217 (+1) after posting the tournament's lowest score in the third round, 70 (-2).
Schreiner University took fourth in the event, highlighted by a second place finish from Joseph Wolcik and a fourth place finish from Blake Hartford. Trinity University tied for fifth place as a team, with Redmond Lyons leading the team in a tie for 13th place.
Texas Lutheran University's Colin Uecker also tied for 13th place, helping the Bulldogs to an eighth place finish.
The University of Dallas faced off against Hendrix College in a pair of dual match-ups. The Crusaders took the victory in both rounds, posting scores of 313 (+33) and 315 (+27) for the two rounds. Erik Hamm shined for UD, finishing in second place on Saturday before earning his first collegiate win on Sunday with a mark of 73 (+1).
