In that same voting, Southwestern University's coaching staff, led by head coach Jon Duncan, was named the SCAC Men's Staff of the Year for the third consecutive year. The Pirates finished second at this year's conference meet to Trinity by 5.5 points in the closest men's race in the 19-year history of the event.
Hurrel-Zitelman, a freshman from San Antonio, Texas, earned 2017 SCAC Swimmer of the Meet recognition at February's conference meet on the strength of winning performances in the 500 freestyle, the 400 IM, and the 1650 freestyle. His time in the 1650 free (15:48.96) early in the season set an SCAC Open record and a Trinity record, while he later took the SCAC meet record with a time of 15:54.58.
At the NCAA Championships in the 1650 free, Hurrell-Zitelman swam in the morning's second heat, posting a time of 15:51.82 to earn 16th place and Honorable Mention All-America honors.

A three-time SCAC Swimmer-of-the-Week during the regular season, Hurrell-Zitelman was instrumental in helping Trinity's men to a fifth straight SCAC team title. His selection as SCAC Male Swimmer-of-the-Year is the ninth time a Trinity swimmer has earned the honor and he is the seventh different Tiger to receive the recognition.
MacAskill, a sophomore from Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich., was named the Male Diver-of-the-Meet after winning the 1-meter board at the 2017 SCAC Swimming and Diving championships.
MacAskill won all of this season's dual meets and won his second consecutive one meter title at the conference championship.
MacAskill performed throughout the season on the one meter board and hit the NCAA qualifying score in the process. He was the SCAC Diver-of-the-Week in Week 11.
