LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Schreiner University freshman Joseph Wolcik capped a wire-to-wire win by an impressive five shots to claim the James S. Litz Memorial on Tuesday. He shot 66-70-70 (-7) against a field of 71 scholarship players from NCAA Division I, NAIA and junior colleges. SU was the only non-scholarship program in the 14-team field.
He led the Mountaineers to a third place finish in the team standings, trailing only Incarnate Word (tournament host; NCAA DI) and Oklahoma City College (NAIA, ranked #1 in the nation).
Schreiner was the only team in action this initial week of the spring season. Centenary, Southwestern and Texas Lutheran make their spring debuts February 27 and 28 at the Concordia (Texas) Linda Lowery Invitational.
