LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball season continued last week, highlighted by Colorado College traveling to San Antonio to open its season with a doubleheader against Trinity, Schreiner hosting Centenary, St. Thomas traveling to Irving to face Dallas and Austin College taking on Southwestern in Sherman.

Colorado College (2-0, 2-0) is 2-0 for the first time since the 2009-10 season after knocking off Trinity (2-2, 2-2) twice last weekend, handing the TU Tigers a 57-55 loss on Friday before winning in overtime, 64-61, on Saturday. Friday marked the first win for CC over Trinity since the 2011-12 season. Sophomore forward Rosie Braley led the way for Colorado College after averaging 15.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, which included hitting the game-winning layup with 2.3 seconds left on Friday night and then scored the opening four points of the overtime period on Sunday. Braley shot fifty percent in the opening two contests and added three assists, one steal and one block. Trinity’s Ashlyn Milton was in double figures both games to lead her squad, scoring 12 points on Friday and pouring in 14 on Saturday.

Schreiner (4-0, 4-0) is undefeated through its opening four SCAC games for the first time in program history after defeating Centenary (0-4, 0-4) twice, which included a 44-point victory on Friday before earning a 68-60 win on Saturday. Sydney Williams, who has paced the Mountaineers all season on the glass, posted a double-double in the opener of the series with 15 points and 17 rebounds. Williams leads the SCAC with 46 total boards on the year. In game two, Gabby Ivarra led the way with a team high 14 points and added six rebounds, while Zahra Cross chipped in with 11 points and four assists. Centenary junior Kristen Stuart paced the Ladies with 23 points over the weekend, including a career-high 17 in the loss on Saturday. 

St. Thomas (2-2, 2-2) grabbed its first two victories of the season after defeating Dallas (0-4, 0-4) on the road, 78-60, on Friday and then again on Saturday, 67-52. Sophomore guard Micayla Hamilton averaged 25.5 points for the Celts, including a game-high 29 in game two. Hamilton shot just under 50 percent on the week (47.6%) and grabbed 14 total boards, had eight steals, blocked five shots, and dished out four assists. Amber Turner led the Crusaders in scoring in both contests, finishing with 15 on Friday and 13 on Saturday.

Austin College (4-0, 4-0) remained perfect on the season after posting back-to-back home victories against Southwestern (0-4, 0-4) last Friday and Saturday. In the opener, Austin College got 21 points and nine rebounds from Ally Longaker en route to a 66-59 victory. On Saturday, Kacie West scored a team-high 20 points on just ten shots as the ‘Roos earned the three-point win. In the two victories, West averaged 17 points on 50.0 percent shooting, including 44.4 percent from long distance. She also added 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals per contest. Southwestern junior Lauren Fulenwider now leads the SCAC with 76 total points on the season which included 28 in the loss on Saturday.

SCAC play continues this weekend as Southwestern travels to Colorado College, Dallas hosts Centenary and Trinity will square off against Texas Lutheran in Seguin.
