SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Fourth-seeded Schreiner University scored a 5-0 decision over No. 5 Austin College Friday in the quarterfinals of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Championship at the Blossom Tennis Center.

Schreiner improved to 6-11 on the season, while Austin College completed the year with a 3-10 mark. The Mountaineers will take on top-seeded Southwestern University later today in the semifinals, weather permitting.
The most competitive matchup of the day was No. 1 doubles, as Schreiner's Jennifer Garcia and Victoria Morales edged the Roos' Gigi Francis and Phoebe Shapard 8-1. Nos. 2 and 3 doubles were completed with 8-1 scores. Blair Drought-Villarreal and Katelyn Ruiz took the second line over Madelin Hiler and Sierra Thomas, while Lindsey Reynolds and Rachel Rompel won the third with a decision over Elena Aventa and Danielle Saltzman.
Needing just two singles points to clinch the match, Rompel beat Thomas 6-0, 6-0 on the fourth line, and Ruiz was victorious 6-0, 6-1 on the fifth.
The No. 1 singles match between Garcia and Francis was called after the clinch,, as was the Morales and Shapard pairing on the second line. The third-line tilt between Villarreal and Hiler was called, as well as the sixth match of Reynolds and Saltzman.
The championship match is slated for Sunday at Trinity University's Butch Newman Tennis Center.
