Complete Release

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - A winter storm wreaked havoc on the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s basketball schedule this past weekend cancelling all but one contest as Trinity grabbed a critical win at home over Austin College, 79-61, on Saturday.

The Tigers started slow in the opening minutes of Saturday’s matchup, falling behind 10-3, before putting together a 19-0 run and eventually taking a 38-26 lead into the half. Trinity went on to outscore the ‘Roos by six in the second half for the eventual 18-point victory.

Defensively, Trinity held Austin College to a season low 35 rebounds and scored 20 points off turnovers as the Tigers forced 20 ‘Roos giveaways. It marked the third consecutive game Austin College has committed 20 or more turnovers.

Senior guard Jordan Rudd led the Tigers as she posted a career-high 19 points and added five rebounds, a pair of assists and a steal to her stat line. Led by Rudd, five Tigers finished in double-figures as Emily Daniel poured in 15, Sam Henry added 11 points off the bench while Hailey Coleman and Ashlyn Milton each contributed 10. Trinity’s Kelly Simmons finished with a game-high 10 rebounds.

Austin College’s Reagan Chiaverini finished with a game-high 22 points to go along with eight rebounds, five assists and one block in the loss. Kacie West added eight points to reach the 1,000-point career milestone.
