IRVING, Texas – Third-seeded University of Dallas posted a 2-1 win over sixth-seeded University of St. Thomas in quarterfinal action of the 2020-21 SCAC Women’s Soccer Tournament, advancing to the program’s third-straight semifinal. Official Championships Website | Tournament Stats
Playing in her first SCAC Tournament fixture, freshman Andrea Coppi scored both goals for the Crusaders as Dallas limited St. Thomas to just one shot following the go-ahead goal in the 71st minute.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Dallas opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when Coppi found the back of the net off an assist from Maddie Rodriguez and May Lein Le. It marked the first goal and assist of the season for Coppi, Rodriguez and Lein Le.
- St. Thomas responded just 37 seconds later to tie the game a 1-1 when Halie Hernandez scored her first of the season on an assist from Desiree Lewis.
- Coppi scored her first career game-winning goal and her second of the afternoon in the 71st minute. Michelle Macintyre delivered the game-winning assist.
- Dallas outshot St. Thomas, 14-6, in the game.
- Each team finished the game with two corner kicks apiece.
