Schreiner's Garcia Earns SCAC Women's Tennis Elite 19 Award

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- In an announcement made today from conference headquarters, Schreiner University's Jennifer Garcia was named the 2021 SCAC Women's Tennis Elite 19 award winner.

Garcia, a junior from Donna, Texas, currently holds a 3.818 GPA in Psychology and earned Second Team All-SCAC honors this season. She finished the season with six wins at the No. 1 singles line and is currently ranked No. 9 in the ITA West Region rankings. Garcia is the second different Mountaineer to win an Elite 19 honor this year, joining Katelyn Smith who took home the Women’s Golf Elite 19 honor back in April.

Established prior to the 2018-19 academic year and meant to recognize the best of the best within each of the league's 19 sponsored sports as it relates to both academic and athletic achievement, the SCAC Elite 19 is awarded to the student-athlete who has completed the equivalent of at least 60 credit hours at his or her current institution and has at least a cumulative 3.25 GPA. The student-athlete must also have earned All-SCAC First, Second or Third Team honors in his/her sport for that particular season.
