HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Centenary’s Andres Bautista opened the scoring in the 28th minute, breaking through the Colorado College defense and beating the Tiger keeper one-on-one for his third goal of the season.
  • The Gents carried a 2-0 lead into the half after Jaden Harmon buried his first goal of the year off a feed from Michael Smith in the 44th minute.
  • In the second half, Colorado College’s Noah Johnson picked up his second yellow card of the match, forcing the Tigers to play with just 10 men for the final 36:42 of the contest.
  • Colorado College’s Alexander Ward scored his second goal of the season on an unassisted marker in the 66th minute but the Tigers could not find the equalizer in the final 24:40 despite eight shots following the Ward tally.
  • Colorado College held a 24-13 advantage in shots, but Centenary posted a 7-5 edge in shots on goal.
  • The Tigers took 13 corner kicks to just two for the Gents.

  • The victory was the first in SCAC Tournament history for Centenary. The Gents lost, 1-0, back in the 2012 quarterfinals to Southwestern in their only other appearance.

UP NEXT

By defeating Colorado College, Centenary (4-5-1) will face second-seeded Southwestern in tomorrow’s second semifinal at 3 p.m. CT. The Pirates topped the Gents in the lone regular season meeting between the two squads, 2-0, back on March 28th in Georgetown, Texas. This will be just the second meeting between the two programs in SCAC Tournament history with Southwestern earning a 1-0 victory in the quarterfinals of the 2012 tournament.
