LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - 
Three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference fixtures highlighted the women’s soccer schedule last week as Centenary pulled even with Trinity at the top of the table with 12 points and Dallas and Southwestern moved into a tie for third with nine points.

Centenary (8-1, 4-1) defeated Texas Lutheran (2-4-1, 2-2-1), 2-0, last Saturday on Senior Day in Seguin. The Ladies are off to a 4-1 start through their opening five conference matches for the third consecutive season. After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, Sydney Bascomb put Centenary in front 1-0 on the Ladies first shot of the match in the 48th minute. Avery Gilbert was credited with the game-winning assist on the Bascomb goal. Celeste Muniz put away the insurance goal on an unassisted tally in the 80th minute. The Ladies won despite being outshot 18-3 and the Bulldogs holding a 5-2 edge in shots on goal. Raquel Morris paced TLU with five shots.

Dallas (3-2-0, 3-2-0) secured a 2-1 road victory over Austin College (0-4-1, 0-4-1) last Saturday. Maddie Rodriguez opened the scoring in the 43rd minute on a free kick to send Dallas into the half with a 1-0 lead. It remained a 1-0 contest until the 71st minute when Dallas’ Andrea Soto found Alyssa Mencacci for what turned out to be the game-winning goal. It was the first goal of the season for Mencacci and the first career assist for Soto. Austin College responded quickly pulling within one on a header from Daija Campbell off a delivery from Hallie Dickerson in the 74th minute. Dallas limited Austin College to just one more shot on goal the final 16 minutes to hold on to the 2-1 victory. The Crusaders held a 12-7 advantage in shots, including 9-3 in shots on goal. Austin College did hold a 7-0 edge in corner kicks.  

Southwestern (3-1-0, 3-1-0) scored a goal on the first shot of the game and held the rest of the way for a 1-0 road victory over Schreiner (0-5-0, 0-5-0) on Saturday. In just the second minute of the match, Maya Fuller found the back of the net following a combination play from Alexis Guajardo and Karlee Holmes who both earned assists. It marks the second game-winning goal of the season for Fuller. Southwestern finished with a 13-2 advantage in shots, earning a 10-1 edge in corner kicks with eight coming in the second half. Schreiner goalkeeper Audrey Rivera finished the game with eight saves, including seven in the second half, while Southwestern’s Johnna Campbell stopped the lone shot the Mountaineers put on goal. It is the second-straight shutout for Campbell and the Pirates.

SCAC women’s soccer continues this week with a full schedule including one fixture on both Monday and Thursday and three scheduled for Saturday.
