KERRVILLE, Texas – Erin Lewis and Jaymee Wilkinson combined to go 6-for-8 with four runs scored and five RBI as they led fifth-seeded Centenary to a 10-4 victory over fourth-seeded Southwestern in the opening game of the 2021 SCAC Softball tournament on Friday afternoon. HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Ladies jumped out to a 2-0 lead through two innings after an RBI fielder's choice with the bases loaded scored Lewis. Centenary then added a run as Wilikinson scored while Britlyn Garrett was caught stealing to end the inning.
- Southwestern took the lead in the bottom of the bottom of the third. The Pirates used run scoring doubles from Katelyn Fran and Kathryn Dull to take a 3-2 lead. Southwestern then added an RBI single from Toni Montema to extend the lead to 4-2.
- In the top of the fourth, Centenary tied the game at 4-4 with Cambry Bates double that scored Wilkinson and a Garrett run-scoring single.
- Lewis gave the Ladies the lead for good with a two-run homerun in the top of the fifth to make it 6-4. Centenary then added four insurance runs in the sixth to halt Southwestern's comeback bid.

- This was the first time since 2016 that Centenary defeated Southwestern in the SCAC Softball Tournament. Centenary's victory snapped a four-game Southwestern win streak over the Ladies in SCAC postseason play.
- Centenary improved to 16-19 on the season
- Southwestern saw its record fall to 14-19.
