Trinity's Daum Named 2020 SCAC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- In exclusive voting by the head coaches of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, Trinity University's Emily Daum was named SCAC Women's Cross Country Coach-of-the-Year.

The Trinity women won the 2020-21 conference championship on Saturday, February 6 on the campus of University of Dallas, marking the Tiger program's fifth women's SCAC title and the third under the direction of Daum since the 2014 campaign. The Tigers have either won, or finished runner-up, in all of the last 10 SCAC Championship races dating back to the 2011 event. Complete Results | Official Championship Website

Senior Jordan Juran captured the women's individual championship, pacing the conference field with a time of 21:48.1. This was the senior's fourth All-SCAC performance as she's finished ninth or better in every conference championship meet in her Tiger career.

Senior Abby Blackwood and first-year Ellie Catron rounded out the top-three spots finishing in just-over 22 minutes. Blackwood earned SCAC Newcomer of the Year in cross country for her effort Saturday morning.

"The ladies showed their depth today," said Head Coach Emily Daum at the time. "I was so happy to see Jordan earn her first individual title and lead the team to victory."

The sophomore pair of Paige Tangney and Lynzie Kutsner rounded out Trinity's All-SCAC performances, securing the ninth and 10th-place spots, respectively.

The Women's COTY honor is the third for Daum over the last four years, having won the award previously in 2017 and 2018. She has also earned three Men's COTY honors in her career (2015, 2017 and 2018).
