LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -
Four Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference fixtures highlighted the men’s soccer schedule last week as Trinity and Colorado College remained at the top of the league standings heading into the final two weeks of regular season action.

Trinity (4-0-1, 4-0-1) remained unbeaten following a 3-0 win over Texas Lutheran (3-3-0, 3-3-0) last Saturday afternoon in San Antonio. Following a scoreless opening 45 minutes in which the Tigers held the Bulldogs without a shot, Trinity got on the board first when Jack Downs converted from the penalty spot in the 58th minute. Wesley Mitchell buried his first goal of the season in the 73rd minute after a corner kick rattled around in the box and fell to his feet, firing it into the back of the net. Ethan Moore finished off the scoring in the 81st minute with a rifled shot from the corner of the 18-yard box to secure the Trinity’s 3-0 victory. Trinity outshot Texas Lutheran, 23-3, and held a 7-4 edge in corner kicks. Juan Carlos Vidales finished with a pair of saves in the second half to secure his second clean sheet of the season.

Colorado College (4-1-1, 4-0-1) exploded for a season-high five goals, all in the second half, to defeat Dallas (2-4-1, 2-4-1), 5-2, at home last Saturday in Colorado Springs. The Crusaders took a 1-0 lead into the half after Ethan Johnson found the back of the net in the 30th minute of the contest. The Tigers would take control quickly however, scoring three goals in the opening six minutes of the second half as Jackson Silverstein, Kiran Singh and John Schuler all found the back of the net. Schuler would score his second of the game in the 57th minute extending the CC lead to three at 4-1. Dallas cut into the lead in the 66th minute compliments of a Nat Kajiwara goal before Skyler Stark-Ragsdale put the game away with his second goal of the season in the 70th minute. The Tigers finished with a 22-8 advantage in total shots and a 7-6 edge in corner kicks. This is the first time since the 2015 season that Colorado College has remained unbeaten through its opening five conference contests.

Southwestern (3-0-2, 3-0-2) remained unbeaten through its opening five fixtures for the first time since the 2005 season after defeating Centenary (2-4-1, 2-3-0) at home on Saturday, 2-0. The Pirates took a 1-0 lead into the half after Jackson DeHaven converted at the penalty spot in the 11th minute of the contest. Southwestern added an insurance goal in the 76th minute when Ashton Bynum found Mofe Aroyo to put the Pirates up 2-0, marking the first time Southwestern has scored multiple goals in a game this season. The Pirates defense which has allowed just two goals all season, limited Centenary to just four shots, zero on target, en route to their third shutout of the season.

Austin College (1-4-0, 1-4-0) secured its first win of the season, defeating Schreiner (0-6-0, 0-6-0) 1-0 in the final fixture of the weekend.
