Colorado College Receives At-Large Bid to NCAA Women's Cross Country Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Track and Field and Cross Country Committee has announced the participants for the 2023 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships and Colorado College received one of the 22 at-large selections in an announcement made on Sunday.

Colorado College, ranked No. 13 in the country and three-time defending SCAC champions, will compete at the national meet for the third consecutive year. The Tigers finished 20th last season after placing 27th in 2021. CC finished third at the West Region meet on Saturday.

Senior Kendall Accetta finished fourth individually at the West Region meet. She completed the 6K course in 22:07.3 and posted the best finish by a Tiger since Sarah Fitzgerald placed third in 2002.

Sophomore Alison Mueller-Hickler placed 18th, followed by junior Ellioit Singer and sophomore Ella Fullerton in 25th and 26th, respectively. All three earned all-region honors.

The Colorado College men also qualified for the national meet, making this the first time both CC teams qualified for the Division III National Championships since 2007.

In order to be eligible to participate in the championships, teams and individuals had to qualify in their respective NCAA regional competitions that were held this weekend.

Thirty-two teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top seven-person team automatically qualified from each of the 10 regions, for a total of 10 teams. Twenty-two additional teams were selected at-large.

Seventy individuals, the first seven student-athletes from each region who are not part of a qualifying team, were selected to participate in each championship.

Dickinson College is hosting the championships on Nov. 18 at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pennsylvania. The men’s race will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern, followed by the women’s race at Noon Eastern.

A live webstream of the championships will occur on www.NCAA.com beginning at 11 a.m. Eastern until the conclusion of the awards ceremony.
