BELTON, Texas - Trinity University Women's Soccer concluded their 2023 season with a 1-0 loss to Hardin-Simmons in the first round of the NCAA III Playoffs on Saturday night.
The Tigers finish their season with a 12-5-2 overall record and a 7-0 conference record. The Tigers collected an SCAC Title, 14 all-conference players, defensive player of the year, and coaching staff of the year.
The Rundown
The Tiger vs Cowgirl battle started off with some offensive firepower. The Cowgirls would take the first shot on goal in the match, but it would be saved by goalkeeper Lauryn Lewis. The Tigers would get their first shot of the night when senior Kyra Stafford rocketed a shot to the top left corner of the goal, but the Cowgirl goalkeeper got just enough of the ball to save it from going in. The Tiger goalkeeper was locked in as the Cowgirls took six more shots on the goal in the first half, and Lewis would save every one. At the half, the two squads would be locked up at 0-0.
The second half would get going with the Cowgirls finding the back of the net within eight minutes, putting the Tigers behind 1-0. The Tigers would have their best look of the evening when Emily Hayes made a run towards the goal and put the ball in the top left. Just when the Tigers thought they had tied it, the Cowgirl goalkeeper stretched to make the save. The Tigers could not get a shot off in the last ten minutes of the match and would ultimately fall to the Cowgirls, 1-0.

The Tigers will head into the offseason and look to train hard and build even more team chemistry so that they may make another push toward the playoffs and another SCAC Championship.
