Centenary Baseball Eliminated From NCAA Tournament By Claremont-Mudd-Scripps

MARSHALL, Texas – The Centenary baseball teams' season came to end on Saturday afternoon as the Diamond Gents lost 10-5 to the No. 2 seed Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags in an elimination game of the 2024 NCAA Division III Championship at Tiger Ballpark at Woods Field.

The No. 4 seed Diamond Gents (23-20) lost 5-2 to the nationally-ranked East Texas Baptist University Tigers on Friday to fall into the losers' bracket.

CMS jumped out to a big lead, scoring in four of the first five innings and building a 9-0 lead though the first five. The Gents finally got on the board in the seventh when Carson Livesay singled to score Lenny Forth. Livesay finished the afternoon with three hits, going 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored to lead Centenary. Alex Miller was the lone other Gent to record multiple hits on the afternoon, going 2-or-5 with one RBI.

Blaine Hardy was handed the loss, going 4.0 innings pitched, allowing six hits and five earned runs. CMS finished with 14 hits, including four home runs to advance into the NCAA losers’ bracket final.
