Trinity's Hill Headlines 2024 All-SCAC Women's Tennis Team

SUWANEE, Ga. -- In exclusive voting by the head coaches and sports information directors in the league, Ruth Hill of Trinity University has been selected the 2024 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Women’s Tennis Player-of-the-Year. It is the second consecutive year she has won the award.  Complete Release

In the same balloting, Rosabella Andrade of Trinity University was tabbed as the league’s Newcomer-of-the-Year and her coach, Andrew Cohn, was selected as SCAC Coach-of-the-Year.

Hill, a junior from Abilene, Texas, earns her second straight Player of the Year award and is ranked in the top 25 nationally, as well as the top 10 in the West Region, in both singles and doubles this season. Hill holds a 10-5 record at #1 singles this season, while also sporting a 14-5 doubles record from the top line for the Tigers. She was honored with three SCAC Doubles Team of the Week and one SCAC Singles Player of the Week awards this season, leading Trinity to its third straight SCAC Championship to qualify for the NCAA Playoffs. Earlier in the year, Hill was the ITA Fall Regional Singles Champion and reached the ITA Cup Quarterfinals in singles. Along with doubles partner Olivia Kim, Hill was also the ITA Fall Regional Doubles Champion.

Hill is the first SCAC women’s tennis player to win back-to-back Player of the Year awards since Trinity’s Caroline Kutach did so in 2018 and 2019, as well as extending Trinity’s record with its 15th overall Player of the Year award.

Andrade, a first-year from Southlake, Texas, is Trinity’s fourth straight – and fifth overall – SCAC Newcomer of the Year. She leads the team with 13 singles wins this season, holding a 13-4 overall record. Andrade is also 12-5 in doubles play along with partner Ellie Hughes, which is good for second on the team behind Hill and Kim. Helping to lead the Tiger team to its third straight SCAC Championship, Andrade was named All-Tournament in both singles and doubles. This fall, she reached the ITA Regional Singles Quarterfinals, falling to her teammate, and eventual champion, Hill.

In his fourth season as the head coach of the Tigers, Cohn led the currently 15th-ranked Trinity women’s tennis squad to the 2024 SCAC championship match where the Tigers defeated Southwestern University, 5-1. The win represented the 11th conference title in the last 12 contested championships for Trinity and 26th overall for the women's tennis program, the third-most conference crowns by one program in SCAC history, trailing only the 27 championships won by Trinity women's soccer and 28 by the Trinity men's tennis program. As the league’s automatic qualifier, the Trinity women (15-4) received a first-round bye and will open play on Saturday at North Carolina Wesleyan University in Rocky Mount, N.C., against Christopher Newport.

A two-time ITA National Assistant Coach-of-the Year (2015 and 2017), this marks the third consecutive year that Cohn has earned SCAC Women’s Coach-of-the-Year honors.
