Trinity's Hill and Kim Earn ITA All-America Honors

TEMPE, Ariz. – Trinity University juniors Ruth Hill and Olivia Kim have received women’s NCAA Division III All-America honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), as the organization officially announced its 2023-24 honorees.

The selection criteria for Division III All-Americans is the following: top eight seed in the NCAA singles tournament, win one round at the NCAA singles tournament, finish in the Top 20 in the final ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, win ITA Fall Regional Tournament, or win a first-round match at the ITA National Small College Championships (ITA Cup). All-American honors are awarded to doubles teams that are a top four seed in NCAA doubles tournament, win one round at the NCAA doubles tournament, finish in the Top 10 in the final ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, win the ITA Fall Regional Tournament, or win a first-round match at the ITA National Small College Championships.

Hill earned the accolades in both singles and doubles, while Kim was awarded All-America distinction in doubles. The two Tiger standouts qualified for the NCAA Division III Doubles Championship last month in St. Louis, Missouri, while Hill also qualified for the Singles Championship.

Hill was eliminated in the opening round of the singles title, while the duo also dropped its opening round match in the national doubles tournament.

Both Kim and Hill swept the ITA Regional Singles and Doubles Championships last fall, securing All-American status for both players. This is the second straight season that Hill has earned the All-American honors in both singles and doubles, while also being the second straight year for Kim to garner the recognition in doubles.

Hill, the two-time SCAC Player of the Year, finished the year ranked 28th in the final ITA singles rankings. The doubles duo of Hill and Kim finished the year ranked 21st in the final ITA doubles rankings. Both Hill and Kim helped lead the Tigers to the program’s third-straight and 26th overall SCAC title last April.

The three SCAC selections mark the 162nd, 163rd and 164th All-American accolades in SCAC women’s tennis history. Hill is the first SCAC athlete to earned All-American honors in both singles and doubles in back-to-back years since former member DePauw University’s Liz Bondi accomplished the feat in three consecutive seasons from 2005-2007.
