This year marks the first time since 2004 the SCAC has not sent multiple teams to the NCAA Tournament, snapping a 17-year run.

The Tigers earned the SCAC automatic bid by virtue of their 3-0 win over Colorado College Saturday afternoon. The SCAC championship was the program’s 21st title, an SCAC record.

Trinity will travel to Mount Berry, Ga., for its NCAA opening round contest against Wittenberg University (16-13), the automatic qualifier out of the North Coast Athletic Conference. The opening round contest will be the second meeting between Trinity and Wittenberg in the NCAA Tournament as the Ohio Tigers knocked off the Texas Tigers back in the 2006 quarterfinals. The winner of Trinty and Wittenberg will take on the winner of host Berry College (26-5) and Washington and Lee University (22-10). Berry and W&L both received automatic berths into the field by winning the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) and Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) titles, respectively. The team that emerges out of the bottom half of the eight-team regional pod will take on the survivor of the top half between Emory University (24-2), Meredith College (25-6), Mt. St. Joseph University (24-2) and Covenant College (34-2) for the Regional Title and a spot in the National Quarterfinals.

Trinity is making its 28th tournament appearance and the program’s 10th in the last 11 tournaments. The Tigers have gotten strong performances this season from SCAC Player-of-the-Year senior outside hitter Mackenzie Logan and SCAC Setter-of-the-Year graduate student Marisa Amarino. Logan enters the NCAA Tournament averaging an SCAC best 3.81 kills per set thanks to a .257 hitting percentage, while Amarino led the Tigers with 6.06 assists per set. Trinity holds an all-time NCAA postseason record of 42-27, including a runner-up finish last season. The Tigers also earned a national-runner up finish in 1999, a third-place finish in 2002 and were semifinalist in 2019.

Regional competition will be Thursday-Saturday, November 16-18.

The championship will be held Nov. 29- Dec. 2 at Roberts Pavilion in Claremont, Ca., with Claremont McKenna and Harvey Mudd-Scripps serving as host.
