Rhodes Wins Fifth Straight SCAC Women's Track & Field Championship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Rhodes College came back and won its fifth straight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Track & Field Championship on Saturday afternoon. Official Website | Day Two Results

The Lynx came back and overtook Trinity University on day two of the championships. Rhodes entered the final day of competition trailing the Tigers by a mere two points. Rhodes scored 159 total points, seven points ahead of Trinity. Centre placed third with 123 points and BSC was fourth with 111.5.

Rhodes' Megan Lee turned in a second place showing in the triple jump as she finished the event with a 10.92 meter jump. Teammate Morgan Scott turned in an eighth place showing after jumping 10.16 meters.

Other Lynx performances included a first place showing in the 4X100 meter relay and fourth place in the 100 meter hurdles (Sadie Yanckello). Rhodes also turned out an impressive showing in the 400 meter dash as three Lynx runners finished in the top five as Chelsea Temple (1st), Yanckello (3rd) and Jessica Burnam (5th) dominated the race.

Rhodes becomes the first team to win five straight SCAC women's track & field championships.

Elizabeth Krug of Hendrix College, who won the pole vault, finished second in both the 400m dash and long jump and took a third-place finish in the javelin throw, took home SCAC Women's Athlete-of-the-Meet honors with 35.75 points. She also earned a sixth-place finish in the triple jump and helped the Hendrix women's 4x100 relay to a sixth-place finish.

Birmingham-Southern College's Tiarra Goode earned first-place finishes in the 100m dash, the 200m dash and 100m hurdles and set new SCAC meet records in all three events.
