The Tiger men beat out Colorado College for their first conference crown since the 2004 season, amassing 984 points to Colorado's 698. The 2004 championship was also the last time Trinity won both the men's and women's titles.
The Tigers had three All-SCAC performances in the 1650 freestyle, led by Alex Miranda winning his second straight conference championship in the event. Trinity has won the mile four years in a row. Miranda finished in 16:02.36, which is the second-fastest time in SCAC Championship history.
Lucas Belury was second in the mile, posting a time of 16:20.80.
The men's 200 backstroke was a battle of familiar faces. Sean Fronczak took home the 2012 title with his time of 1:53.83, and Trinity swept All-SCAC honors in the 200 back. Finishing second was last year's champion, Andrew Battles, with a time of 1:54.91. Stephen Culberson was third with a time of 1:56.13. Battles and Fronczak - also the 200 back champ in 2010 - have both earned All-SCAC honors in the 200 back each of the past three seasons.
Three Tiger swimmers also earned All-SCAC honors in the 100 freestyle, led by Aaron Shaver's second-place finish on the men's side. Shaver finished in 46.08, followed closely by teammate Kevin Thomas's time of 46.75 that got him third place.
Matthew Wey was Trinity's top finisher in the 200 breaststroke. Wey was sixth with his 2:12.40 time in the men's race.
In the final individual race of the championships, Spencer Bard took home top honors for the Tiger men. Bard earned Trinity's third straight win in the 200 butterfly, finishing in a time of 1:54.39 to take home the conference crown.
The final event was the 400 freestyle relay, and although Trinity had pretty much clinched the overall SCAC Championship, the Tigers still came out strong. The Tiger men were second in both the consolation and championship finals races to close out the week's events.
